Northside stands 4-0 for the first time in the program's
three-year history after escaping visiting non-conference foe
Lejeune in five games.
The Monarchs were triggered by the serving of senior
Racheal McPherson and clutch kills from junior Deanna Adams in
the see-saw fifth game.
McPherson wound up with 28 points and six assists. Junior
Jessica Rose collected 13 points. Adams registered seven
kills. Maggie Kramer's 13 points paced winless Lejeune.
"We're excited," coach Angela Buchanan said of Northside's
start. "We really didn't play well today; we had a lot of
errors. We let them get back into it, and they got a little
confidence and played much better.
"But, hey, we'll take it. We're not going to refuse it.
It's good to have a five-game match before starting conference
play so they (players) know what's going on."
